Are you thinking about retirement? This is how you get it started.

First you have to call the New York State & Local Retirement System to make an appointment. The number is (1-800- 805-0990). After you do this, they will mail you letter listing what you need to have at the time of your appointment, example; birth certificate and a valid driver's license in your legal name. You need to have someone you trust to accompany you to the appointment for example husband, wife, daughter, son, extended family or friend.

Materials you need to bring with you:

1. Birth Certificate

2. Driver's License

3. Your most up to date annual statement and any recent documentation from the New York State & local retirement system.

Members who are planning to retire need to go to mylive.wsboces.org the WS BOCES Employee Intranet . Complete Employee Departure checklist, then submit it to the building principal to sign. The checklist will be submitted to 507. Members must submit the resignation form, which can be obtained from personnel or building principals.

Contact benefits (631) 549-4920 x 298 to determine what benefits you are eligible for upon your retirement.
